We offer standalone shop drawings when existing plans are too vague, and when we lead the design ourselves the documentation is usually detailed enough that a separate set is not needed.

When Marsco leads the project, our design drawings are developed to construction level from the start, so a separate shop-drawing pass is usually not required. Standalone shop drawings are there when you are building from someone else's vaguer set.
Shop drawings are the working construction set for a building. They take the design and draw it the way it will actually be built: the panel layout, every junction and flashing to scale, the fixings and brackets located, and the installation order set out. The dimensions are clear enough that an experienced builder or installer can follow them without ringing the designer every hour. In short, consent drawings show what is being built and prove compliance; shop drawings show how it gets built on the ground.
Main contractors, panel installers, and project managers on industrial building design projects are the usual audience. The service is there when you need that extra layer of detail, not because every project automatically requires it.
Insulated panel buildings often need a shop-drawings because the envelope is the structure, the insulation, and the finished lining in one system. Cool stores, freezers, and large warehouses depend on correct panel orientation, joint detailing, and sequencing. If the consent set shows the building in principle but not every bracket, flashing, or panel cut, the installer is left improvising.

Panel junctions, sequencing, and coordination with structure are resolved in the design set, not left for a later shop-drawing exercise. That is deliberate: experience on the tools and regular work with New Zealand's largest panel installers means we know which details matter before the first panel arrives on site.
Standalone shop drawings are for when you are building from someone else's plans that stop short of that depth. That includes overseas-origin designs that missed NZ buildability, or consent sets that passed review but still leave the installer short of detail. In those cases our building design remediation work and shop-drawing service often sit side by side: fix what does not comply, then draw what the crew needs to build it correctly.
A usable set covers panel sizes and orientations on every elevation and roof plane, joint and flashing details at a scale you can build from, hold-down and bracket locations referenced to the engineer's schedule, a clear installation sequence, and coordination with openings, services penetrations, and floor levels. Drawings are numbered, cross-referenced to the consent set, and explicit enough that rework from ambiguity is unlikely.
For seismic sites in New Zealand, generic catalogue assumptions are not enough. Connection details must reflect what the CPEng structural engineer has specified. Good shop drawings make that visible on every sheet so the installer and the engineer are looking at the same thing.
